Good Quality Hydraulic Nut Splitter

A hydraulic nut splitter is a tool used to remove a seized nut from the shaft, stud or bolt found in any type of equipment without causing damage to the thread of the bolt. The nut splitter helps to cut through nuts within seconds without causing any injury or potential accidents.

How Does a Hydraulic Nut Splitter Work?

In a hydraulic nut splitter, there is no screw pushing a chisel into the nut, unlike those found in the non-hydraulic variant. Instead, the splitting task is performed with the use of a hydraulic hand pump that drives power generated by hydraulic oil. First, the user pumps hydraulic fluid into the piston located inside the hand pump’s barrel at the cap end port, which generates high pressure at the back of the piston. At the same time, the fluid is pumped out of the piston at the rod end port of the barrel, which creates an area of low pressure in front of the piston. With a difference in pressure, the piston is forced to move forward in the barrel, which pushes the chisel – the splitter – into the nut to cut and detach it from the bolt.

The hydraulic nut splitter is a highly effective tool that performs its function in a far more efficient manner. This helps to increase work productivity as less time is spent on splitting seized nuts off shafts than the time taken to do so with the typical mechanical nut splitter. However, the user is advised to maintain safety standards when operating the tool. For instance, the user must monitor the hydraulic pressure gauge when hydraulic fluid is being pumped into the piston as a pressure beyond the operating limit can induce leakages.
